autumn

good evening
time for some updates..

the biggest news (although somewhat old for those who follow me on FB) is that I had a chance to work with a real model and a makeup artist, for the first time. The lucky girls were Jeanette Mathisen and Sølvi Strifeldt - besides shooting we made a real mess in my friend's living-room and generally had a great time together. The plan was a series of 3 images but I failed miserably, as for now only 2 are ready (you can see them below) and the third one is in the progress (or regress.. i'm not sure).. Another thing I carried out of this project is the understanding of how badly I need to upgrade my equipment - eos 20D and natural light can barely cut it these days.. Both Jeanette and Sølvi seemed to be happy with the final result, and that naturally makes me happy too.

i've also been featured in a couple of online magazines - Musetouch and a spanish one, not so sure about its name since the site is called Capacitarte and the actual cover of the mag is Incluyendo.

and last but not least i got my copy of 1x photobook "In Pursuit Of The Sublime" - i am one of the 210 photographers presented there. it's a really great high-quality compilation - check it out!

day-to-day stuff..
i take my words back about the school - it turned out to be not that bad after all.. i'm gradually mastering the intricate knowledge of site-building and i have to say that i'm loving it. feeling a bit more skilled now i've decided that it was high time to update my own site - and that's what i spend most of my free time on at the moment.. don't get too excited though - it's not gonna be the kickass new version that i promised some posts ago - i'm not that good yet .) but some refreshing changes are coming soon :)

stay tuned!

poland, holland and beinart

good evening
it's been a while, again .. *surprise surprise*

no new works but a couple of somewhat stale news that i'd like to share with you..

i've made an announcement about the group exhibition "abnormal nudes" in poznan (poland) before and i did everything in my power to actually go there personally but unfortunately it didn't happen. real pity since the show was fantastic and i missed the opportunity of meeting lots of talented people.. oh well. here's the video from the opening and you can also check out the pictures on Abnormals' facebook fan-page.

btw, anyone speaking polish? i'm really curious what the guy was talking about .. :)

the trip to holland did happen and i was lucky to work together with a great photog and a good friend of mine Peter Kemp. modelling for someone else was a totally different experience, and although i was worried sick that i won't manage to feel alright in front of someone else's camera, i think i did quite well. we got fantastic clothes from one of my most fav designers Linda Friesen, and she was kind enough to do my makeup and hair.
the shooting took all day and in the end i was really exhausted but i believe all the effort was worth it.

the result of mine, Linda's and Peter's collaboration

this one was taken by Ron Meijer, the owner of the studio we were shooting in.

and last but not least - a selection of my works has been presented on Beinart - a famous australian online gallery. neighbouring with Ray Caesar, David Ho, Seth Siro Anton, Natalie Shau, Erlend Mørk and other cool artists is more than flattering.. i'm kind of proud of myself .)

day-to-day stuff.. the school turned out to be a bit of a disappointment. i have a feeling that it was created for norwegian youngsters with stuffed bank accounts, who feel like having some relaxing and entertaining time before actually deciding what to do with their lives. the problem is that i'm far from being rich and young and i know exactly what i want, so it's a kind of a mismatch..
oslo is gradually losing its charm on me as well.. and my efforts to find a job have been unsuccessful..
bolting back home seems rather cowardly so i've decided to stick around for half a year and see if it gets any better.
on a brigther note, i've met some interesting people here and i might fulfill an exciting project in the nearest future..

stay tuned :)

Untitled.. and the big changes that are to come

so.. another looooong break.
i could give a thousand excuses but hey, who cares anyway..

first and foremost, a new image that i've been working on for the last week (yes, a quickie.. hope it's not reflected in the quality tho).. i struggled quite a while with the title but couldn't come up with any that would satisfy me, so i just left it nameless.

on a more trivial, day-to-day note - i'm moving to oslo, in a week.
about to begin my studies at norges kreative fagskole, and no, you guessed it wrong - it's not photography.. i actually went for web-design (expect a kickass new site in the nearest future ;)).. excited!

i got the tiniest apartment in the world, where it's probably possible to shoot with wide-angle only, but on the other hand it has quite a view and i'm all for experiencing the heartbeat of the big city..

Zu Warten II / Eva

Eva

it's been a while..
i guess i'm just a really lousy blogger .)

so, two new images are ready.
not much to say about these.

zu warten ii is a sort of unexpected continuation of zu warten - it wasn't really planned..
it just appeared in my mind one saturday night (or well, early sunday morning), and it took me about 5 days to complete it - which by far might be my "quickest" image ever made.

second one i called eva.. just some reflections of mine.. feel free to interpret it whichever way you like.

Protection II

after half a year break i came back to my "protection" series - which was supposed to be a series but never happened, since i discarded everything i made after the initial shot.
why did i come back? i have no idea. the past few months were dark. i'm guessing it all starts finding its way out now, so yes, more fingers in the eye-sockets, missing body parts and floods of blood are yet to come.
the subtitle for the second protection is "the numb and the blind", and perhaps it reveals way too much and leaves less room for interpretation.. i thought i just let it be.
Special thanks goes to my patient model Hans Sigve - imagine sitting in the cold room, blindfolded, half-naked, for hours, feeling how somebody is poking your eye out and hearing endless timer peeping and shutter clicks.
